Carbon footprinting is a mechanism to enable organisations, projects, events or individuals to measure their impact on the environment. It was initially developed for industry in response to the increased knowledge about significant global environmental issues. These include global warming, climate change, resource depletion and degradation of ecosystems.
A carbon footprint is a measurement of the total set of greenhouse gas emissions caused by an individual or organisation, event or product.
The benefits of the measurement are to enable comparison between products or companies using the same units and to provide a baseline from which to start carbon reduction strategies.

Calculating a carbon footprint can be the of the journey to become a Low Carbon Business.
As qualified environmental auditors, we undertake carbon audits in a structured and systematic way. When calculating the footprint of your product, service or organisation, our approach is to use recognized standards such as ISO14064:2006, Green House Gas Protocol or PAS 2050:2008.

Following on from the audit, we can help you to reduce the footprint through:
  • Implementing a carbon reduction programme.
  • Benchmarking your performance with best practice
  • Identifying cost effective ways to reduce your emissions
  • Train staff in carbon reduction techniques and resource efficiency.
